The Missing Persons program began in 2002 as a result of the passage of Texas Senate Bill 1304. The UNTCHI Missing Persons Unit provides DNA testing of biological evidence related to the identification of missing and unknown persons as well as mitochondrial DNA testing of hair evidence related to Texas criminal investigations.
